Otuaro Commend Group, DRI For Exceptional Role In Delta Guber Election
Deputy Governor of Delta State, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro has expressed gratitude to the Delta Rebirth Initiative (DRI), a non-governmental organization, for its leading role among focused groups that worked for the victory of Okowa/Otuaro ticket at the April 11, 2015 gubernatorial polls.
Otuaro spoke during a courtesy visit to him in Asaba by the DRI led by its chairman, Deacon Emmanuel Duku.
Otuaro, who expressed confidence in the DRI leadership, said the group worked hard before and during the elections and showed strong presence at the inauguration ceremony of the administration.
Describing DRI as "exceptional" among over 300 focused groups, Otuaro said he was impressed that the DRI still remained together 7 months after the polls in what clearly suggests "a body with great future".
The Deputy Governor said "God Almighty who crowned the mission for election with victory was same who ordained the Okowa/Otuaro ticket and aided the focus of the administration despite present challenges".
Insisting that God Almighty was with the administration, Otuaro said before the electioneering journey, God told him to "go prepare for an election-an election I couldn't understand".
He said he had no inkling it was for "election as Deputy Governor until I was nominated as Okowa's running mate".
He made reference to Okowa's statement barely a week before to visiting leaders of Delta South Senatorial District that his choice of Barr. Kingsley Otuaro as Deputy was a divine revelation.
"Due to our divine backing, the fall in oil prices has not dulled our determination and focus to deliver on our promises. The result is that we have stabilized the ship of governance with the aid of Almighty God", Otuaro averred.
Otuaro stressed that government has not reneged on its wealth-creating prosperity agenda through the YAGEP, STEP and other programmes because, in his words: "This is the way to go".
"We cannot institutionalize the economy on a single produce-oil. God helping, we'll get the economy refocused, we'll create wealth and employment for our teeming youths", Otuaro enthused.
Otuaro informed that government's bent on technical education through revamping of 3 of the 6 Technical Colleges in the state was towards building strong foundation for subsequent graduates in our universities to be skilled to fend for themselves and not be looking for jobs where there were none.
He added that that the state government intends to bring health care delivery to doorsteps of all Deltans through its proposed health insurance scheme and tasked all to avail themselves of accruable benefits in all the prosperity programmes.
Responding, Deacon Emmanuel Duku said the DRI was not a political organization but a non-governmental organization which set out to "promote godliness in governance" .
Explaining how the group made its chioce of candidate to support, Duke said; "We tried to identify candidates with Godly characteristics and saw in Okowa and Otuaro credentials what we were looking for. We then talked to people and they keyed into what was clearly a divine orchestration", Duku said.
The DRI boss said the organization was formed only January 12, 2015 but had gone places, adding that the body with branches everywhere in Delta State was expanding beyond the state's frontiers.
He however thanked the Deputy Governor for acknowledging the humble contributions of the DRI towards the Okowa/Otuaro victory at the polls.
