Delta: Otuaro Moves To Resolve Ojobo Community Crisis, Sues For Peace Among Feuding Faction

The Deputy Governor of Delta state, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro have called on the feuding factions in the leadership tussles rocking Ojobo community, Burutu Local Government Area of the state to sheath their sword and give peace a chance.

The deputy governor who spoke through his Senior Special Assistant on Communication and Press, Bulou Kosin expressed concern over the brewing crisis which he described as unhealthy for the state.

The statement said that the deputy governor is worried that crisis has erupted at a time when government was doing everything possible to create enabling environment for businesses to thrive as well as woo back oil companies and investors back to the state.

It was learnt that crisis had broke out in the oil community owing to an inconclusive community chairmanship elections which was marred following accusations and counter-accusation with some section of the community allegedly accusing the deputy governor of taking side with a faction.

The statement however dismissed the alleged claims that the deputy governor had vested interest in who becomes the community chairman, saying; “Deacon Otuaro has no vested interest in who becomes chairman of Ojobo community and for the avoidance of doubt is not supportive of any particular candidate in the community elections as speculated in certain quarters”.

The statement further said, “His Excellency, the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro, therefore appealed to all parties in the brewing crisis to give peace a chance.

“His Excellency, the Governor of Delta state, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa wishes to govern a peaceful state free from inter/intra ethnic crisis to enable him deliver his electioneer promises and so I appeal to all stakeholders in Ojobo community to give peace a chance so as to enable government discharge its mandate of delivering dividends of democracy to her people”.

“As a peace advocate, Otuaro is desirous of a situation where all stakeholders of Ojobo community would work towards credible elections any time same is held, and avert a repeat of circumstances that led to avoidable bloodbath in the community over a decade ago”.
