Pandemonium broke out in Ovwian community, Udu Local Government Area,Delta state on Wednesday night following clashes between two secret cult groups, Baga and Dominion which resulted to the destruction of three cars, community town hall and the death of a middle aged man identified as Mr. Erhuvwun Kebe.
Sources who don’t want their names on print told our correspondent that it was members of the Dominion cult group led by one Mr. Righteous Sabuke that attacked the leader of the Baga cult group, identified as Whayenkufia Kebe but did not meet him at home, but on their way back, they met his younger brother, Mr. Erhuvwun Kebe at NBTC Junction in Ovwian and clubbed him to death with dangerous weapons.
Irked by the killing of his younger brother despite the presence of local vigilante outfit, Mr. Whayenkufia Kebe, leader of the Baga group in collaboration with his cult members and family relations stormed the Ovwian town hall, which also serves as office of the community vigilante outfit and burn three cars, vandalize all the windows, doors, chairs and carted away with some valuable electronics belonging to the community.
Speaking separately, Engr. Paul Odiete, President General and Hon. Alfred Urhukpe, Oghwuvwie General of Ovwian community stated that as a result of the destruction of the townhall and the burning of the three cars, “we mobilized our boys and apprehended 13 boys in connection with the incident before hand over them to the police at Ovwian Police station.
When contacted, Police Public Relations Officer, Celestina Kalu said she has not been briefed about the incident but a police source at the Ovwian/Aladja Police Station confirmed the story, saying that the police is on the haunt for other suspects in
