N20billion loan: Uduaghan, Obi on same page, no probe at all, says Delta chief whip

Alleged probe of the former acting governor of Delta State, Sam Obi over the N20billion loan approved to him by the state House of Assembly during the period he spent in office seen to be rumour after all.

The Chief Whip of the State House of Assembly and member representing Isoko North Constituency in State Assembly, Hon Tim Owhefere at the weekend dispel the rumour making the round that Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan had plotted Obi’s impeachment over the alleged fund.

He noted as false claims that the alleged N20billion loan by former acting governor had pitted Uduaghan, either against the state House of Assembly or Honourable sam Obi.

Owhefere said that there is no problem between the State House of Assembly and the Governor over the loan, part of which was allegedly used by Obi to purchased bullet-proof vehicles during the period he was in the saddles.

He categorically said that the Governor and the Speaker are on the same page noting that nothing would make them to quarrel.

“It is a figment of their imagination. There is no problem between the Governor and the Speaker. There is no problem either between the Governor and the State House of Assembly. All that you hear about probe is fallacy. The Governor and the Speaker are on the same page, so no probe at all”.

The Chief Whip noted that although the governor may not be happy about some issues but not over the loan granted the former acting governor by the state House of Assembly.

Owhefere also said that the Uduaghan-led administration would do a lot better in the next regime because all the necessary machineries that would grow the state economy and bring government more closer to the grassroot people have been put in place.

“This government has tried so well but the area people tend to criticize the government about is because we have concentrated on mega projects and they said these project are not appealing to them because they need the immediate empowerment money. Here in Africa people tend to measure government with what is in their pocket and that is why we have rumour mongering all over.”

Continuing, he said: “You know we come from a society where people regard you once you are in government as a sinner and they want to criticize everything you do. But the truth is that the people who criticize and want to take over from us, what are they going to the government to do, is it to serve or to make money?

He said that government have realize that what the people need is immediate money to put food in their table as such government have been vigorously pursuing how to put food on the peoples table through its micro-credit scheme and award of minor contract that would immediately empower the grassroot people.

He however criticize the opposition parties in the state for not doing enough grassroot campaign to win election as was being done by the ruling People Democratic Party in preparation for the April general election.
