We'll cut off oil to the North if the worst comes...N'Delta group vows

THE Niger Delta Indigenous Movement for Radical Change (NDIMRC) has said that if they choose the part of violence as being done by the Islamic sect, Boko Haram and their sponsors, it wouldn't take them minutes to stop oil flow to the Northern parts of the country. This came against backdrop of calls by Islamic sect that President Goodluck Jonathan should resign or convert to Islamic. The group said that it is laughable to ask the seating president to resign because of some issues posed by a particular group and vowed to defend the President with the last drop of their blood. They described the demand by Boko Haram that Jonathan should convert to Islam or resign as a cheap blackmail stressing that they would die fighting to defend Jonathan. They described the killing by Boko Haram as "senseless" and uncalled for urging Nigerians to ignored the sect to their "useless thinking". In a statement signed by its President, Nelly Emma; Secretary, John Sailor and Public Relations Officer, Mukoro Stanley, the group said: "It is laughable and a huge joke to call for resignation of the President". They warned the sect to stop frustrating President Jonathan and put an end to the ‘senseless’ killings in some Northern parts of the country stressing; “President Jonathan has the mandate of Nigerians to rule this country and he will not succumb to any blackmail". "The President cannot be intimidated; he will not resign because he is the custodian of a mandate given to him by Christians and Muslims alike.” “The people of the South South region have been the natural political allies of the North and have given their unflinching support to all the past Presidents from the North; never a time people from the South South frustrated past Presidents from the North while in office". "Those who are doing everything to make the country ungovernable should know that their continuous harassment of the President will not be tolerated and should also be told now that they cannot stop President Jonathan from contesting the 2015 general election". "The people of the South South have resolved that President Jonathan will remain in office and come back again in 2015,” the group said “The call for President Jonathan to resign is one huge joke too many and should be condemned by all sensible and patriotic Nigerians". "We are not going to fold our hands and watch this Islamic group to make the country ungovernable for the President; We are ready to defend one of our own with the last drop of our blood and stop the oil of the Niger Delta region from being taken to the North, enough is enough.” Consequently, the group implored the Boko Haram sect to stop the killings and give the President the needed peace to discharge the mandate freely given to him by Nigerians in the 2011 general election. While warning Boko Haram to halt the mindless killings, the Niger Delta group said that it would resist any attempt by anybody, group or groups of persons to hurt Jonathan. “The President is one of our own and we are saying that we will stand with him till the end, we will resist any attempt to hurt him. " There are calculated attempts by the Boko Haram sect to divide the country and we are ready for either peace or war to ensure that President Jonathan is not frustrated". "The needed atmosphere to govern this country must be given to the President or we want to make it clear that it will not take us a minute to stop the oil flow to the Northern parts of the country. If we choose to and that is why we are imploring the terrorist group to revisit the dialogue process and end this circle of violence that is doing nobody any good". "What the present situation in the country needs now is for all Nigerians to join hands with the President to move the nation forward, enough of the killings of innocent Nigerians.” “It is good to live at peace always and that is what Nigerians have been known for until the sudden coming of this monster known as Boko Haram and they cannot continue to harass and intimidate President Jonathan and the rest of us as violence is not the exclusive right of any sect, religious group or ethnic nationality". "We are calling for peace not because we are cowards, but we are thinking about the innocent souls being wasted everyday". "Boko Haram and their sponsors must end this strange culture now and back President Jonathan to succeed as we make bold to say it again that the President will not resign and he will be back in 2015.”
