Nigerians in Diaspora unite with old Bendel state schools support initiative

Determined to contribute their quota to their alma mater, Nigerians in Europe recently reunited in what is now known as Bendel school support initiative.

Coming from their various countries in Europe, they gathered at the prestigious Oasis Banquet Hall, Barking London on the 4th of August just when the London Olympic game was on.

Their primary objective was to form a network of those who schooled in the Nigeria Old Bendel State schools with a view of contributing their quotas to the growth and development of such schools.

The convener and founder of the organisation, Mr Ken Oloye said that the event was unprecedented and ground breaking even with the calibre of people who attended.

He said that the event attracted crème de la crème in Europe including home based politicians, Nollywood personalities, captain of industries, executives of corporate bodies, sporting personalities as well as representatives of the alumni.

Oloye said that the event was christened "giving back" because their main focus is how to network and contribute to the Bendel schools.

"The Bendel schools re-union event was refreshing, it was an opportunity for us to meet, renew bond, contacts with old friends as well as catch up with the current trend of things", Oloye said.

According to him; "I was determined to create understanding among people here and that prompted me to come up with this initiative for us to become actively involve in activities that would be beneficial to us, our old schools and the nation at large".

While thanking God for the successful event, he commended those who took part in the quiz, singing and dancing competition and expressed optimism that next year gathering would be better of.
