Nigerians in UK Unites for Third Edition of Bendel School Support Initiative

(Wembley, London), 27th August, 2014-->>> The Third edition of the Bendel School Support Initiative designed to form a network of those who schooled in the Nigeria Old Bendel State schools with a view of contributing their quotas to the growth and development of such schools have been held in London.

The event which was held at the prestigious Bosk Lounge and Bar, 1 Popin Business Centre, South way, Wembley, London, attracted captain of industries, executives of corporate bodies, sporting personalities, representatives of the alumni as well as Nollywood personalities.

In an electronic statement by the convener and founder of the organisation, Mr Ken E. Oloye, said that the event was unprecedented and ground breaking even with the calibre of people who attended.

Oloye said that the event was christened “Celebrating Nigeria Centenary” because their main focus is to celebrate Nigeria as a nation as well as network and contribute to their alma mater.

“The Bendel schools re-union event was refreshing, it was an opportunity for us to meet, renew bond, make contacts with old friends as well as catch up with the current trend of things", Oloye said.

According to him; “I was determined to create understanding among people here and that prompted me to come up with this initiative for us to become actively involved in activities that would be beneficial to us, our old schools and the nation at large”.

“The event tagged (Celebrating Nigeria Centenary), had all the pomp and pageantry of a classy and well attended occasion, with a red carpet organized by the celebrated British Professional Photographer Ryke Alayanda.

“The arrival of the organizer of the event, the enigmatic, prolific event organizer Mr. K. E Oloye fully kitted in the uniforms of the illustrious Immaculate Conception College, Benin City, his alma mater, with a colourful school bag and matching school sandals, invoke with nostalgia feelings of yonder years in the hearts of alumnus residing in the Diaspora, the statement said.

“True and worthy ambassadors of their alma mater also in attendance were representatives of alumni all the way from Nigeria”.

According to him, the event kicked off with a boisterous rendition of the national anthem of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

To add glamour to the show, Mr. Kelvin Idehen was on ground to thrill the audience with jokes while Preston and KC were the Disc Jockey who provided all the thrilling pop music at the event.

Oloye said that as part of the entertainment for the event, there was a scintillating performance by the Nigerian rave of the moment in the UK, Ada Snoop, with her two dancers, who dazzled the audience with an electrifying performance.

“The high point of the night was the candy dance, fashion after the American music show, the soul train dance.

While thanking invited guest who graced the occasion despite their busy schedule, Oloye said that renowned Nollywood Director, Charles Novia and the guest school, St Theresa School Ibadan, UK branch Alumnus, “were not left out in the glorious orchestrated dance carnival”.

Among guest who graced the occasion were; Oyenka Dunku, his co-organisers of the 2014 edition, Eda Aitelegbe, Eneye Oloye, Prof. (Dr) Olayinka Okiei, Evelyn Iyeyemi, Bibi Agbi, Sharon Ize-Iyamu, Oziegbe Edobor, Ricky Osaigbobu, Francis Agbi, Pamela Osunde, Chioma Okafor, Ochuko Ogedegbe, Charles Novia and representatives of alumni from Nigeria among others.
